Utah: Where Buying Saves

Custom home building in Utah has been on the rise for several years. Enter: increased population growth, cost efficient building, and limited existing home supply to make Utah one of 18 states where is less expensive to build than to buy (2022 study by StorageCafe). The U.S. Census has confirmed Utah as the fastest growing state over the past 10 years. As Utah natives, we at Michaelis Homes have seen this growth first hand and have scaled our business with it.

We think many buyers are unaware there is a housing shortage in our state. Rent prices are staying high and seller home prices are dropping, albeit gradually. These conditions make it a fantastic time to get into a new build. 

As the first quarter of 2023 lay behind us that included unprecedented snowfall, we look toward this second quarter where we are breaking ground on new builds in Salt Lake City and Park City. Our custom home building will be showcased in partnership with both PK Studios, Habitations Residential Design, and Roberts & Lamb respectively. We will pair modern architecture with timeless design on both of these new builds.

Let’s first look at our exciting new project in Arcadia Heights. Planned for one of the last lots in the neighborhood, we are excited to execute the vision we’ve developed with PK Studios. Situated on a slope, this multi-level home pays homage to modern Scandinavian design as it blends with the natural elements around the property. We’ve done a fantastic job of connecting living and entertaining sections of the house in an open design while still maintaining peaceful privacy in each of the sleeping quarters. This home will be elegant, yet understated, and our design forward building team cannot wait to break ground on this beautiful project.

Shifting to Park City we have a modern design build penned by Habitations Residential Design Group, one of the areas premiere architecture firms. In partnership with Roberts & Lamb, the design of this property will be combed through, leaving no finish untouched, to make this home livable as soon as the key drops into your palm. To say we are excited to partner in design with R&L is an understatement. This female founded and owned design firm has over 30 years of design experience at their disposal. Another multi-level modern home will boast premium features that will be sure to woo you through every step of the house.
